There are portraits of two sons of Mr and Mrs G E Rockliffe, Westleigh, Gloucester Road, Chesterfield. Both were wounded within a fortnight and unfortunately George died on his way to hospital at Rouen. Soon after the outbreak of war he enlisted in the Royal Scots Fusiliers and had been in France for three years. He took part in the battle of Loos and several other engagements without mishap. Aged 25 years he was the second son of Mr and Mrs Rockliffe. For six years prior to enlisting he was a clerk in the employ of the mator of Chesterfield. He had been a member of the Christ Church (Stonegravels) choirsinve boyhood. Private John Rockliffe is 23 years of age and is the third son of his parents. He os now in convalescent camp in France recovering from a wound in the right shoulder. Before enlisting in the Sherwood Foresters two years ago he was employed by Mr Peter Warner, fish merchant. He has been in France for 18 months. Mr and Mrs Rockliffe’s eldest son, Charles is a corporal in the RFC and Alfred, the youngest is serving with the Naval Air Service.
